Debbie Giles joined Freshford Preschool in February 2014 and brought with her lots of previous experience across the whole early years age range. Since joining our setting, Debbie has completed a BA (Hons) degree in Childhood and Youth Studies (2015) and qualified as an Early Years Teacher (2018).
Debbie holds a Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification, a Paediatric First Aid Certificate, and is the preschool’s Safeguarding and Health and Safety Lead.
Debbie has 3 children of her own and works on all four days that the preschool is open.
Emma Dodds-Smith joined the team in June 2018, having previously worked as a childminder and a Teaching Assistant in a Reception class. She holds an NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development and a Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification. Emma is the Deputy Safeguarding Lead and holds a Paediatric First Aid Certificate. She works on all four days the preschool is open. Emma has three children of her own.
Abi Jackson became a voluntary helper at the preschool in 2010, before joining our supply staff in 2015. She brings particular talents in art, craft and design to the preschool. Abi has completed a Children’s Learning and Development (Early Years Educator) Advanced (level 3) training course. She also holds a Paediatric First Aid certificate and is the setting’s SENCo. Abi works on all four days the preschool is open. She has three children of her own.
Candy Madath joined the preschool in September 2016 as our Assistant Early Years Practitioner. Having volunteered regularly while her daughter attended the preschool, Candy has an in-depth understanding of our ethos and a great enthusiasm for working with the children. Candy recently completed Part 1 of the Early Years Foundation Skills course and holds a Paediatric First Aid Certificate. Candy works on Monday mornings and during our Forest School sessions.
Jen Harper joined the preschool in January 2017 as our Business Manager. Jen was heavily involved in her own children’s preschool as a Committee Member and also has much relevant experience through her role as Volunteer Treasurer for St Barts Church, Bath. She ensures the smooth running of the business side of Freshford Preschool and is the first port of call for admissions enquiries.
Our supply team
The preschool has a team of regular supply staff who cover staff absences. Our supply staff are all familiar with the preschool’s ethos and know the children well. Details of our supply staff can be found on the preschool notice board in the entrance hall.
