At home in the Forest

We found Jo hiding in the forest today,  it was so lovely to have her back with us.  We are really very at ease in our forest now, old activities are sought out and new ones approached with enthusiasm and perseverance.

We all had the opportunity to ‘abseil’ down a steep, bank and balance along a fallen down trunk.  Later Debbie showed us some tying techniques she had used to lash sticks at right angles to each other. We talked about the square and rectangle shapes that could be created. The children had lots of ideas about making car windows, picture frames, robot heads and doors for their dens.

Some children need to wear more hard wearing trousers for our active sessions. Skirts hinder our physical adventures and leggings are a bit thin for sitting comfortably in our dens.  We advice jeans or preferably waterproof over trousers.
